Family Space Playgroup
I was pregnant with my boy when my mum passed away. He was my comfort, my world. I was so worried about him going to playgroup he had never been away from me before. But playgroup were amazing. They were so reassuring and comforting. Also very patient with him. He really enjoyed going and after only 2 weeks he was running in. I'm so glad I took the leap its been amazing for my boy and us as a family. Thank you" Mum whose child has recently graduated from playgroup.

A Year in the Life of Family Space Playgroup 2021/2022This year we have had a change around in our little room to create a quiet reading area. The children have comfy chairs and soft cushions to sit on and can access a variety of books and a selection of story sacks. This area has been used by individuals and small groups listening to stories.
In the same room we also have a new role play area were the children can be creative and use their imagination while role playing. It has been lovely listening to the children talking and taking on a role in there play.
Two activities that the children have really got a lot from this year was watching 5 caterpillars growing and changing into butterflies, they showed of interest in the activities about the life cycle of a caterpillars which sparked a lot of questions. We all watched as we let the butterflies go free. The other activity the children have really enjoyed was growing their own vegetables and sun flowers. The children have been out watering there tomatoes, peas, lettuces, broccoli, and sunflowers most days. They were watching and waiting to see when the first tomato started to grow and are now wating for the tomato to grow bigger and turn red. One of the children has been watering the sunflower and talking about how tall it has got, which has led to conversations about ‘I wonder how tall it will get’.
The pre-school children have been going to ‘Messy Mondays’ once a half term to help with the transition to big school in September. They have been learning about crossing roads while walking there and they have been chatting about numbers they see while walking. They have been meeting some of the teachers and having fun doing the activities at Rowanfield School.
The pre-school children also went on a trip to the Everyman Theatre to watch ‘Hansel and Gretel’. We caught the bus into town and while watching the performance the children participated with calling out when directed by the actors on the stage. Looking at the expressions on the children’s faces you could see that they all enjoyed the show.
The younger children this year have started doing yoga. They are growing in confidence and are joining in with the yoga poses, they have been learning the cow, chick, piglet and chicken poses, while singing to old Mc Donald.
